MFDS Press Release on 19 February 2021:
To response the continuous COVID-19 spread, the current inspecting system for Foreign food facilities and establishments will be changed by strengthening a virtual document review and applying a remote video audit program.
460 for Foreign food facilities and establishments in 35 countries on the list for 2021 should be inspected by MFDS based on local regulation. MFDS will desk review with self-audit result and documents and require the remote video inspections to use smart glasses and other devices if necessary.
If the business are found to be non-compliant, their products will be suspended in order to prevent them from coming on the Korean market.
According to the data of 2020 virtual documents review, 5.2% removed from the registration list due to NC and 16.5% failed to submit documentations.
